Choosing an Optical Mark Reader
When choosing an OMR system, you may wish to consider the following areas:
Hardware Issues
- Amount of traffic the OMR will be required to handle
- Speed of auto-feed versus hand-feed machines. Auto-feed machines process
forms at approx. 2 per second.
- Self-diagnosis facility for identifying faults
- Double-sided or single-sided reader
Software Issues
- Data export features
- Ease of form design
- Ease of form reproduction
- Range of question types supported
- Statistical analysis packages (with which the system is provided or
compatible)
Maintenance Contract
- Annual maintenance
- Service provision in case of breakdown
